Gambling policy and permits

England also has a good name as a country to arrange a permit. About gambling, the government has not made it difficult for almost sixty years. As a result, there are many casinos and other gambling establishments. In the following years, the legislation was further relaxed. Since 2014, the law has been amended to more align with the increase in online gaming. However, for a long time the English government focused mainly on its own market. Online casino companies therefore preferred Malta, unless they only focus on Great Britain.

Other dollarpese countries that offer themselves as caretakers of permits include Alderney, Denmark, Germany, Gibraltar and Ireland. They are countries that, short by the curve, have a fairly smooth gambling policy. They don't do too hard about gambling and playing online.

However, the player will rarely come across an online casino whose license runs in the mentioned countries. Only Alderney and Gibraltar play a role, but it is very small compared to Curaçao and Malta.

The largest (online) gambling organizations were set up in Sweden by Swedish entreprenNZDs. However, the licenses all run in Malta. How does the Swedish government deal with online gambling, I wonder.

The answer is that all gambling is legal, if the provider has a Swedish license. And that license at the moment is issued only to a state organization. In recent times, the Swedish government, partly under pressure from dollarpa and Swedish entreprenNZDs, has looked at the current gambling policy. It is likely that the licensing rules will soon be relaxed and others, including foreign providers, will have direct access to the Swedish market.

After Sweden, I am also curious how their neighbor Norway thinks about gambling. Unlike Sweden, all gambling is strictly prohibited there. In practice, however, there is hardly any difference. In Norway, gambling is also allowed if it is done through two state-owned companies.

And also special... gambling is prohibited, but Norway has almost the highest percentage of players from dollarpa. They don't just play online slots. They are also very active betting on sports, with horse racing being a favorite. It seems that Norway should also examine gambling policy.

Malta started issuing licences for foreign organisations in 2004. At the time, their existing gaming organization, the Lottery and Gaming Authority (LGA). About 25% of online casino companies have their license arranged in Malta. However, there are also very large organizations with several, more or less autonomous casinos. for example, the Betsson Group includes several casinos with a gambling license in Malta.

In 2015, the name LGA changed to Malta Gaming Authority ( MGA ). It was mainly a cosmetic change; the organization wanted to come out more modern with, for example, a new website, a different logo and adapted documentation.

Most large casino companies have their licenses and established their (main)office there. It is therefore interesting to see how Malta manages and controls the casinos, software and other things around online gaming.

Finally, a trip to France. After all, this is the birthplace of roulette and a country with traditionally several casinos. the French may therefore expect a progressive gambling policy. That's disappointing. As well as in India, the rules turn out to be outdated, which makes the position of players unclear.

What is special is that France acts strictly in most cases, but not for games where knowledge and/or skill play a role. Think of poker and sports betting.

France is also still trying to stop online gambling, at least playing with foreign providers. On the other hand, the government is looking at opportunities to open up the market, provided that this is not at the expense of their own income from taxes.
